Session 9

The session opens with the group heading back into the caverns through the hidden fireplace.

Theo's lantern glimmers and catches the gaze of the two morlocks, who hiss and turn to run away, blinded by the lamp. From the glimpse the group catches, they still appear injured.

The group decides to pick up where they left off and finish the morlocks off.

Gimme starts off, channeling his element and hurling a wooden axe at one of the morlock, but misses, hitting the cavern wall. He tries again, and misses, and tries once more, making contact against the morlock to the left.

The morlock runs away. Una follows with a shot against the second Morlock, hurting it. She also recalls knowledge, realizing that they are weak to poison. She announces this to the group.

The morlock moves further back. Athtar pulls in front of the group and throws a blight bomb at the morlock, hitting it through splash and dealing persistent poison.

Theo joins up front and takes a shot at the second morlock, hitting.

Gimli moves up as well, landing behind Athtar and hits the morlock. He then activates hardwood armour.

Una's next, moving behind Theo. She reloads and fires at the morlock, missing. The morlock runs to the left with the other one, Theo runs after it, getting caught by the trap being reset. He then runs up it after. Athtar and Una see this. The morlock also is hurt by the acid.

Athtar follows, calling out the fact the stairs are trapped again. He then runs up to them, and charges up. Successfully avoiding the trap and linking up with Theo

He then notices a fourth morlock which charges up to Theo and stabs him with a screwdriver before turning and running back from the lamp.

Gimme runs to the stairs and attempts to jump over the stairs, but lands on the top step, but manages to avoid falling.

The third morlock returns, swinging at Una, hitting, and retreating up to the cavern in front of her. Without skipping a beat, she reloads and shoots at it. It ducks her shot and hisses.

Athtar moves closer to the fourth morlock, shooting with his pistol, dealing minimal damage. He follows with a blight bomb but misses, hitting with stray splatter.

Theo heads up and blasts the morlock, dealing minor damage.

The morlock steps up to Theo and attempts to stab him and then bite, but misses both attacks.

Gimme runs up to Athtar and Theo, blasting the morlock, but misses.

The third morlock throws a screwdriver at Una, but misses. It flips her off and runs away into the crevice. Una runs up to the crevice and sees two pairs of eyes looking back as the second morlock sits with the third.

She reloads and fires at the second morlock, but misses. The second morlock heads out of the crevice, hitting her over the head with a screwdriver. It then follows up by biting her.

Athtar reloads his pistol and takes a shot at the morlock, but misses. He reloads. Theo transforms his arm to a fist and punches the morlock. He then raises his shield.

The morlock jumps past Athtar and then swings at Gimme, hitting, and then running away into the crevice to the right. Gimme chases it into the crevice, noting that the fourth morlock has navigated further north into the caves. He also sees the second and third morlocks ganging up on Una. Gimli attempts to shoot the third morlock, but misses. The third morlock noticing Gimme turns to him and runs up to him. It stabs Gimli with its screwdriver before heading up with the fourth morlock.

Una then reloads her gun and shoots the second morlock, placing her gun's barrel right at the mouth of the morlock and shooting it. The second morlock is dead.

Athtar follows Gimmie into the crevice, slipping past him and taking a shot at the fourth morlock, but missing.

Theo heads further up the cave, coming across another morlock, which he blinds with the lamp. He shoots it and it turns to run. Realizing he left Athtar and Gimme in darkness, he turns to head back.

Gimli blasts the third morlock, hitting it and nearly killing it. Gimli then raises his shield.

The third morlock slips away to Theo, who he attacks with a swing and a bite. He misses the swing, but lands the bite.

Una checks herself to attempt to heal herself and then moves down to the trapped staircase.

Athtar leaves the crevice, seeing the morlock at Theo. He then throws an acid vial at it, but misses, only hitting with some of the splashed liquid.

Theo gets in front of Athtar, then makes a large punch at the morlock, missing.

The fourth morlock enters from the crevice above, leaping over Athtar. It stabs him and then attempts to bite, but doesn't manage to connect with the bite.

Gimli leaves the crevice and then makes a punch against the third morlock. Missing. The third morlock attempts to reposition Gimli, which it succeeds, and then stabs him. Gimli is notably hurt.

Una can hear the sounds of the commotion ahead of her. Una attempts to disarm the staircase trap but fails. She attempts to run up the stairs instead, making it safely up.

Athtar opts to reload, he takes a shot and misses the fourth morlock, barely missing Una as well. He then throws an alchemist's fire at the morlock, missing again, dealing damage with the remaining cinders.

Seeing the perfect opportunity, the fourth morlock attacks Gimli, downing him. It then runs overtop Gimli, and back up into the crevice it came from.

The third morlock then runs up north of the cave.

Una heads up to Gimli and places her medicine kit on the ground. She heals both Gimli, bringing him back up, and Theo.

Athtar moves behind Theo and reloads his pistol.

Gimli does stuff

Una heads north where Theo had previously found another morlock. She searches and finds a false floor.

Athtar places himself between Theo and Gimli and holds an action to shoot if he sees a morlock.

Gimli heads up to Una, raising his shield as he gets to her.

Una announces the false floor to the group, and she heads to the opposite opening.

Athtar heads up to join, but as he moves, the two morlocks jump out and reveal themselves. He continues up a little out of range of the morlocks. He reloads.

Theo moves up as well, getting against a wall to avoid flanking by the two morlocks. He then shifts his arm into a giant sword and cleaves down onto the third morlock, splitting it in half. Morlock three is dead.

Gimli is up next, stepping down past Athtar and beside Theo, in front of the fourth morlock. He then swings a wooden hammer on the morlock, killing it.

Combat ends.

The group takes a few minutes to patch up. Una manages to patch Athtar up, but doesn't manage to patch Gimli up. They rest further. Athtar and Theo keep watch. They don't see anything coming around to the group. From further into the cavern, they hear a gurgling, moaning sound, along with the sound of slithering. It sounds like it's coming deeper in the cave.

Theo opts to go check around the corner to check if he can see anything. He notices some slimy residue in the area, but does not see what created it. He investigates the slimy residue and notes that it is acidic. He recognizes this as the residue of an aberration that manifests from alchemical residue, taking the form of a slug with a humanoid like torso. This monster is called a flesh wart.

The ooze of the slime appears to lead upward, deeper into the cave. Theo reports this to the group.

Una makes another attempt to heal herself. Athtar prepares a serene mutagen for her. She manages to heal herself up a little. Then turning to Gimli, she manages to patch him up as well.

The group then opts to check the chest they found in the room. They slide down the trapped staircase and head into the first room they saw the last time they were down here. The chest the morlock was fiddling with is pushed up against the back wall.

Una checks the chest for traps but doesn't notice anything. She kicks the chest open and is hit by a dart from the chest. She falls to a poison and is showing second-stage symptoms of its effect. She investigates and learns that she is afflicted by the Cladis Poison

Theo hands Athtar the antidote he picked up to administer onto Una. While they wait to get Una healed, they check the chest to find a fear gem, a stone-fist elixir, and moderate bottled lighting.

Athtar takes the elixir and bottled lightning to attempt to reverse engineer.

The stone-fist elixir (lv4) gains 1d6 bludgeoning damage and loses the non-lethal trait The bottled lightning, (lv3) it has a +1 item bonus to attack rolls and 2d6 lightning and 2 splash lightning.

Theo investigates the fear gem (lv4)

Una attempts to heal herself, managing to heal a little before taking poison damage. Her symptoms seem to have improved and are only at stage one.

The group waits another hour so she can try to patch herself up again. She patches a little but her symptoms worsen. She passes out but Athtar brings her back up.

Another hour goes by, and Una patches herself up a little more an manages to overcome the poison.
